“I remember the exact moment I began researching a career in laser tattoo removal. Years ago, I was working the front desk of my first job at a tattoo studio. At the time, I was freshly 18 years old and until that day, I thought there could be no cooler job on the planet than working in a tattoo shop. One day, I greeted a young man who had come in desperately needing help. He was just 20 years old and his face was almost completely covered in tattoos. He told me the story of his previous struggle with substances and the trauma he had experienced as a young teen which led to having his face so heavily tattooed. Now in recovery and reconnecting with his family and his faith, he expressed the significant distress he felt looking in the mirror everyday at the mistakes a young traumatized teen had made. Despite having come so far from his old life, he lived with the constant and glaring reminder of what he had been through. He asked over and over again if there was anything that could be done for him, but there was nothing I could do to help. He’d looked into laser tattoo removal treatment and was told it would take dozens of sessions and potentially tens of thousands of dollars over several years, with no guarantee that his face wouldn’t be heavily scarred by the end. I knew there had to be a better way. Watching him walk out of that studio knowing the struggles he would face without removal, lit a fire in me that’s never gone out. I wasn’t able to help that young man back then, but because of that interaction, I’ve now dedicated myself to a career in Laser specialty; providing accessible laser tattoo removal services to our community so that he would be the first and last client I’d ever have to turn away. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of facilitating hundreds of tattoo removals through LaserSKN and our ability to reach and treat people in need has only grown.”

Most of our clients aren’t in situations as desperate as that particular young man, but statistically, one in four people who get a tattoo will end up regretting it and seeking removal later on. In the past, there was simply no choice but to live with both the tattoo and the “I told you so’s”. Now, not only is tattoo removal possible, but it’s become almost as common as tattooing itself. And why not? Our preferences and life goals change constantly; the same freedom and flexibility should apply to our appearance. And with laser removal technology in peak development, the options are endless, safe, and constantly improving.

Consultations are one of my favorite parts of this work because I get to dispel so many myths and fears surrounding tattoo removal. By the end, my clients get to go into their first treatments knowing exactly what to expect and feeling confident in their decision.”
